Fall Boot Guide

Fall is officially the start of boot season. And since boots are my favorite type of shoe, I have a lot. Like definitely more than I should. But that means I have tried a lot of different brands and types (OTK, booties, shearling, etc) and I’ve narrowed it down to my favorites for each type. As a boot fanatic, I need them all but hopefully this guide will help you narrow down what you’re looking for! For reference I am a TTS 8 in all boots mentioned below!

The Heeled Boot

I’m starting with this boot because I was the most reluctant to try a heeled boot (I’m all about comfort) but now I’m mad at myself for not trying these sooner. Now sure there are uncomfortable boots out there and you need to stick to what works for you but I am obsessed with these Vince Camuto boots. The ultra pointed toes, heel, and where they hit on the leg truly dress up any outfit. Even after buying these I was shocked how many times I was scrolling through Instagram being like “I love those boots!”, zooming in, and realizing they were the ones I already own. They always look good. And they really go with anything, especially the tortilla shade.

The OTK Boot

This is probably the boot I am most picky about. I hate when they don’t fit right on the thigh, I hate when they have ties, and they really need to be the right material. So I’ve tried on my fair share at department stores (pre-Covid) and I have to say Marc Fisher is the way to go on these boots. I purchased the Yakira boot last year in black and LOVE them. I was so excited to see another option in the NSale this year and of course I had to scoop them up. They have a tiny bit of a heel (not noticeable I promise) and fit great on the thigh. I love the cognac color – they truly go with everything in fall!

The Ugg Boot

Listen say what you want because I really don’t care. Ugg boots are comfortable, warm, and cute. Over the years they’ve upped the traction and made them more water resistant. (There is actually a waterproof version this year.) They’re super casual but look cute with both leggings and jeans. I’ve tried just about every dupe there is for Uggs (Costco’s are the best just FYI) but I always go back to the real thing. If you’re going to get just one pair of Uggs, I highly recommend the tall boot. I have pretty much every height and that’s the one I grab the most. They are the most warm, plus you can fold over the top and make them whatever height you’d like. And I’d go with chestnut, why mess with a classic.

The Bootie

Now like I said I am #teamcomfort and have loved a good flat bootie in my day. But if you’re going to get one pair, I’d get a pair of Marc Fisher Alva or Oshay. (I swear these are the same but just different colors but apparently they are different.) I know that heel looks daunting but I’ve worn them for hours at a time and didn’t struggle to walk or feel like I was wearing heels. They look gorgeous with jeans or dresses/skirts and really dress up any outfit. I love the pointed toe too which helps elongate the leg! I have the Oshay in cloud suede which goes with everything!

The Winter Boot

Now this is the boot that I’ve owned for the shortest amount of time (1 week) but I already bought a second pair so that should tell you something. They have great traction for ice/snow, are comfortable to walk in, warm, and actually cute! I’m talking about the Marc Fisher (are you noticing a pattern here? King of boots!) Izzie boots that you have seen all over Instagram. Some things live up the hype! I got these in the cognac suede color originally and then went back for the black leather so I could wear them in the rainy Oregon weather more easily. I got my TTS and I can still wear thick socks with them!

The Budget Boot

Pretty much every year I get some sort of “budget” boot from Target. We get a lot of rain this time of year in Oregon (even when it’s not in the forecast) and it’s nice to have a pair of boots that I will not be heartbroken if they get accidentally ruined. But don’t let the term budget boot deceive you – my Target boots have always held up for more than one season and are always stupid cute! This year I went with a heeled version (comfortable I swear!) and I love them! The shaft of the boot is super cushy making them so comfortable to wear. They come in three colors and really go with everything in your closet!
