“Omg girl – I love your shoes!” “Hair goals!” “That bag is stunning!” How many times have you heard that? In life and especially on social media, we love to compliment each other on what we physically have. And look – I get it! Sometimes those shoes are to die for. Sometimes her hair literally is goals. Those compliments can be genuine and welcome. I’m not trying to discredit that. It’s important for women to build each other up and sometimes those physical appearance compliments are just what we need. But I do think we need to do a better job of building one another up for who we are not and not what we’re wearing – myself included. But the women around us are so amazing! There are so many things we can compliment each other on. Here are 10 of my favorites!

10 Compliments Not Focused on Physical Appearance

1. You are so thoughtful. We all have friends who genuinely care for those around them and are always doing little things for people. Tell her you see her thoughtfulness and it’s appreciated.
2. You’re such a good listener. Let’s be honest – listening is a skill we could all work on. So if another babe is showing off her skills in this area – let her know!
3. Your happiness is contagious. We all need a little happiness in our lives and some people are pure sunshine. Let them know how much that sunshine is needed!
4. You are so genuine. Have a gal pal who is always so sincere and always showing up 100% themselves? People can be fake, especially on social media so show your appreciation for the real ones out there!
5. You are so selfless. If you have a friend who is always looking for everyone else – hold on to them! And tell them you appreciate their selflessness!
6. You are the BEST ___ I know. Whatever your friend is the absolute best at – let her know! She worked hard to hone those skills and your compliment will mean a lot!
7. You are so honest. Honesty is such a beautiful thing! We all need someone in our lives to just tell it how it is. Tell them how much you needed their honesty!
8. You are so reliable. Is there anything better than someone you can always count on? Make sure you compliment your friends that are good at this!
9. You are hilarious. A sense of humor is always appreciated and I love those friends who can always make me laugh. Always good to to remember to tell our funny friends how much we love that about them!
10. I’m so glad I know you. Sometimes the best compliment is the simplest one. Our lives are better because of the people in it and it’s always good to remind people of this!
